Second batch of the old school VCA has landed. A few minor changes have been implemented in the design to get rid of the annoyances I encountered using them. And since I’m the C-level executive of S&C, whatever I say goes! I also empty the trash bin and mop the floor, comes with the perks of being a one-man company. But, more to the point:

  • It’s has a black front panel now.
  • An extra CV input has been added for all your tremolo or other CV shenanigans. One of the CV’s goes directly to the VCA while the other one has an attenuator. This makes much more sense.
  • The output has been boosted a little bit.

Build Note

CAUTION: The gods of lousy QA have blessed this batch with a minor error on the PCB. Q2 needs to be installed the other way around as to what’s printed on the PCB. So take this into account when assembling. I chose not to throw the whole batch of PCB’s in the bin for this as it doesn’t has any effect on the functionality of the final module. Also, environment and minimising garbage and stuff.

If you order a fully build module, you don’t have anything to worry about. If you buy a bit I’ll pre-solder the offending component. If you buy a pcb&pannel I will add a note to the shipment detailing the issue so you won’t forget.
